22 weeks

22 weeks

We haven't found out whether we're having a boy or a girl. There aren't many true surprises in life anymore, are there? I don't really have a strong feelings either way. A new mum I met at a 1st birthday party on the weekend told me that she didn't have any idea until the last few weeks when she just knew she was having a girl (it was indeed a girl).

A psychic I saw in New Orleans last year told me that I'd have two boys, so for a while I felt like her prediction clouded my intuition and during the first trimester I pictured having a boy. Since our last scan though I've had dreams about having a girl and without thinking refer to the kicks by saying, oh she's kicking like crazy at the moment...but who knows?

As long as the little one is healthy and born happy.

  1. Beautiful belly!

I was convinced my whole pregnancy that I was having a boy.... but I had a beautiful little girl. I read somewhere that a study revealed that expectant mothers were more likely to think they were having a boy. Isn't that funny?

A healthy, happy baby is all you can wish for. I think it's a good thing you're keeping the sex a surprise... it's such a reward after all that hard work!

  2. I knew intuitively at every level that I was having a boy, and I did indeed have me a boy. I even decorated the room a bit more 'boy' on the scale of gender neutral rooms. But I reckon anything goes for so many mother's to be. As you say, healthy is all that matters. Your belly is looking lovely as is the low lying print near the vase. I love it. I responded to your question re deserting blogworld by the way x

  3. A clairvoyant in Canberra (! Not quite New Orleans but, ya know) once told me I would have 2 boys too. I totally let that cloud and was SURE Sophia was a boy. Until the amnio results (long story) revealed the opposite. I was totally shocked. And then delighted. Just as I would have been if it had been the boy I thought I felt! And then I remembered the other clairvoyant (at a friend's hen's night - cool yes?) said two girls (correct) with brown eyes and hair (correct). I totally didn't think she was right. But she was. About lots of stuff too. Goose bumps.
    You look gorgeous, btw.

  4. Cute bump :) I had absolutely no intuition with mine..but all three times I did find out the sex and they were right. I'm just not good and not wanting to know something.

  5. I've been meaning to comment for ages.. in fact I've had your blog open in a tab in my browser for over a month now - so first of all congratulations on your pregnancy!! So exciting.

I didn't really have any idea with my 2 girls, I guess I probably thought I was going to have a boy when I had Matilda (wrong!) and I maybe thought I was going to have a girl with Polly... but who knows. When I try and guess other people's babies I'm always wrong :) I found out both times what I was having though, I'm a little bit of a control freak.

Also wanted to say that I loved your loft re-do, see that's how long I've been meaning to comment for!

  6. Cute bump! We're not finding out the gender either - I feel like we're in the minority there. I'm one of those people that likes to closely inspect all their wrapped Christmas presents and try to guess, so I'm not sure how I'll go with not finding out! Like you, I really don't mind either way, at first I thought girl, now I'm thinking boy.

A couple we know are both doctors and they decided not to find out.. until she couldn't stand it anymore and snuck into the scan room in her hospital and scanned her own tummy and saw it was a girl!! She felt so bad and didn't tell her husband but it only took a day or so of her acting strange for him to declare "you know don't you!!!". So funny.
